Mathew 28:8-10 The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message. And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.”
Obedience. Obedience, especially in the face of fearful circumstances or the unknown, is always rewarded. These women were courageous. They defied the possibility of consequences for even going to my grave. They were astounded by an angel whose very presence caused strong guards to fall faint in fear. They obeyed the angel’s command to spread the news of my resurrection, and immediately left to tell the disciples. On the way, they were rewarded by my presence, by my appearance to them. They were the first to see me in my resurrected state. (2022)
