Exodus 5:6-9, 19-21 That same day Pharaoh sent this order to the Egyptian slave drivers and the Israelite foremen: “Do not supply any more straw for making bricks. Make the people get it themselves! But still require them to make the same number of bricks as before. Don’t reduce the quota. They are lazy. That’s why they are crying out, ‘Let us go and offer sacrifices to our God.’ Load them down with more work. Make them sweat! That will teach them to listen to lies!” …. The Israelite foremen could see they were in serious trouble when they were told, “You must not reduce the number of bricks you made each day.” As they left Pharaoh’s court, they confronted Moses and Aaron, who were waiting outside for them. The foremen said to them, “May the Lord judge and punish you for making us stink before Pharaoh and his officials. You have put a sword in their hands, an excuse to kill us!”
Notice that when Moses and Aaron first approached Pharaoh about letting them to into the wilderness to worship Me, the only response from Egypt was to double down and make their lives harder. They pushed them relentlessly, made impossible demands and beat them. Why do you act so surprised when you fight back and your enemy doubles down and makes it even worse? Why do you believe your enemy will give up easily? He will not. So do not back down. Moses and Aaron continued to serve Me, even when their own people told them to stop and let them be. The people were willing to stay in bondage to get the beating to stop, to lighten their loads. Yet, that is not where I wanted them. I wanted them to be free, just as I want you to be free. So, expect your enemy to keep doubling down. He will do so until I deem it is time to crush him, just as I did Egypt in the Red Sea. The only real question here is, will you continue to trust Me? Will you allow a period of crushing in the belief that it will end and I will prevail on your behalf? Will you allow Me to free you completely? Not partial freedom from some aspects of your bondage, but total freedom. Will you trust Me to do that? Will you endure until it is time? I am here, Child. I have not moved and I have not changed My mind about protecting and liberating you. Your job right now is to trust Me, to fight discouragement and to do what I instruct. Not easy, but possible if you lean into Me.
